Aera signs a new project in Eastern DRC

Aera is pleased to announce the signature of a forward Emission Reduction Purchase Agreement (ERPA) with Energie du Nord Kivu (ENK). Total transaction volume is set at 400,000 carbon credits to be issued from a newly constructed 9.5 MW run-of-river small hydro plant. 250km of new distribution lines were built to connect to population of Beni and Butembo to the electricity network. 10,000 households will by supplied with green electricity, allowing them to stop using diesel generators. Within households, women are the most positively impacted by the arrival of electricity. They no longer have to fetch tens of kilos of charcoal several times a week and transport them over many kilometers. They also benefit from time saving when preparing meals and cooking.
