Fabrice is Aera’s Co-Founder and Executive Chairman. He overviews the group’s strategy and business growth with a special focus on carbon credits transactions. Fabrice also represents the company to external stakeholders and is a regular host of media.

Fabrice led Aera’s growth since inception by nearly doubling the turnover and the net profit every year. He established Aera’s commercial presence in 20+ African countries with a strong focus on francophone Africa (Burundi, Côte d’Ivoire, DR-Congo, Mauritius, Senegal, ,..). Fabrice has been instrumental in the development of Aera’s trading activities. He closed €160 million of carbon credits’ transactions since 2015 working with 80+ trading counterparties in Europe, Canada, US & Asia.

Fabrice negotiated the sale of 35% of Aera in Feb 2021 to Arise IS, a Joint-Venture between Singapore agri-food giant OLAM ($30bn turnover p.a.) and Lagos based pan-African infrastructure fund Africa Finance Corporation ($8bn invested to date).

Fabrice Le Saché is also Vice-Chair and spokesperson for the largest French Business & Employer Union (MEDEF). He is also Board Member of MEDEF International and Chair of the SME & Entrepreneurship Committee of Business Europe.

Fabrice holds a LL.M. in International Comparative Laws from the University of San Diego School of Law, a master’s degree in international public law from Paris-II Panthéon-Assas and a Diploma in International Relations from the Institute for Higher International Studies of Paris La Sorbonne University.

Aurélie is Aera’s Co-Founder and CEO. She structures and supervises a wide range of critical functions on a daily basis with the main objective of increasing the company’s sustainability and value over the long term.

With a vast exprience in renewable energies, waste treatment, energy efficiency and agriculture, she masters the main carbon standards and the key aspects of buying and selling carbon credits. She has advised more than 80 clients in Africa and actively contributed to the registration by the UNFCCC of the very first CDM projects in 10 African countries. She also played a key role in structuring Aera: building a solid team, improving the operational structure, setting up a reliable management information system and reporting tools, creating standard operating procedures (especially in terms of compliance and controls), monitoring the carbon markets, etc. Aurélie also actively participated in the sale of 35% of Aera in February 2021 to Arise IS.

She also manages the company Biogaz-IFF since 2019, located in Brittany and whose main activity is the production of biogas from agricultural residues. This biogas is recovered into biomethane and then injected into the existing gas network in order to offer a renewable alternative to conventional gas users.

In 2021, she founded Harmattan Invest, a company that has so far carried out a dozen of private equity transactions, including which included several start-ups related to the preservation of the environment.

Aurélie holds a degree in life sciences from the University of Rennes I and an engineering degree in environmental industrial engineering from UniLaSalle-Rennes.

Nicolas is Aera’s Deputy CEO, in charge of the Strategic Projects and the General Affairs. He also oversees the company’s digitalization to support its growth, from back-office functions to projects origination and trading activities.
 
Nicolas has held various corporate and legal senior functions in the mining industry in Africa, working for world-class assets with multi-billion dollars values, and beforehand in international law firms in France. He has worked for multinational corporations such as Glencore (+$200b revenues), Norton Rose (50+ offices worldwide) and Eurasian Resources Group (75k employees in 15 countries).
 
In this latter, Nicolas was the General Counsel for the Africa Region with a 15+ legal team, member of its Executive Committee and directors in 10+ operating and corporate subsidiaries across the continent (DR-Congo, Zambia, South Africa, Mali, Mozambique, Namibia…). He also managed the DR-Congo Head Office, having up to 100 employees.
 
Nicolas is graduated from the Institute of Business Law of Aix-Marseille University, holds a Master’s degree from HEC Business School and was admitted to the Paris Bar.

Alexandre is Aera’s Chief Operating Officer since 2016. He manages Aera’s carbon certifications & deliveries team and leads the advisory business development from technical due diligence, projects assessments, carbon certification quality control, procedural workflow management and reporting across Aera Group portfolio of projects.

Alexandre represents the company in the interactions with international carbon standards (VCS Verra, Gold standard, GCC, I-REC,..) and is a regular speaker and panelist in carbon industry events such as COPs side events, Africa Carbon Forums, I4C weeks, GCF/WB workshops etc. He also contributes to Aera’s positions in the business association technical working groups (Project Developer Forum, Climate Finance Innovators).

Alexandre was involved in over 100+ climate finance & emission reduction certification projects & programs in 20+ African countries. Under his leadership, Aera built a unique track record with the largest number of carbon projects registered for Africa and the largest number of successful carbon credits issuances. Alexandre is experienced in 40+ methodologies covering dozens of technologies from renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste treatment, e-mobility and biofuels. He also contributed to raising over €100m climate fundings from development institutions like the Green Climate Fund, AfDB-SEFA, NL-PSI & UNOPS.

Alexandre graduated from Ecole Centrale Paris (France) as an engineer and holds a M.Sc. Management of Technology from the National University of Singapore (Singapore). He is a CFA charter-holder (Chartered Financial Analyst Institute) and a volunteer mountain rescue & fire worker.

Haashim Goburdhun is Aera’s Chief Financial Officer. He manages the Accounting & Reporting, Treasury and Tax functions of the company. He is also responsible for preparing Aera’s Budgets and Forecasts and ensures adequate controls and policies are in place.

Haashim has held various senior finance positions in multinational companies with multi-billion-euro assets base and turnover in the Financial Services, Pharmaceutical and Mining industries. Some of the companies he worked for are Deloitte, Deutsche Bank, Aspen Global Inc. and Eurasian Resources Group. In his last role, he was the Head of Treasury & Shared Services for the Group’s African operations (10+ entities) and also the Executive Director of the Mauritian subsidiary.

He is a Chartered Certified Accountant with more than 15 years of experience in the profession and is also a fellow member of the ACCA.

Clémence is Aera’s compliance officer. She manages KYC procedures and interacts with all trading counterparties for onboarding. She is also in charge of general compliance related matters. As such, she follows-up regulatory issues and has a constant grip on regulation to adapt Aera’s practices to best-in-class approach and applicable laws. Clémence is designing Aera’s compliance process and workflows. She is also enacting and ensuring implementation of Aera business code of conduct and Aera corporate ethical guidelines.

Before joining Aera, Clémence worked in major banking groups for eight years : BNP Paribas (European Union’s leading bank, 65 countries, 190,000 employees), Société Générale (€25,8bn of Net Banking Income – 2021) and Crédit Agricole (€19bn of Net Banking Income – 2020); She had been two years in the Regulatory Department at Société Générale for the establishment of MIFID 2, the regulation of financial markets.
 
Clémence holds a diploma degree in Economics and Laws from CNAM (Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers).

Alexandre is Aera’s officer in charge of marketing and back office. He supports day-to-day trading operations and interacts with counterparties for reporting, deliveries, and communication contents. Alexandre is also managing the internal book liaising with Aera technical team for schedules and volumes updates. He ensures compliance with contracts and controls consistency between book positions and projects performance.
 
Alexandre successfully managed the direct delivery of 5+ MtCO2 and handles the back office for a portfolio of 50+ projects. He produced marketing content for 100+ clients and supervised Aera corporate identity & branding (website, logo, graphical charter, commercial documents…). Alexandre also manages the corporate social media communication.

Previously, Alexandre worked at the marketing department of Mouvement des Entreprises de France – the largest French Employer Union gathering 195,000 businesses – and at the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) – the international governing bodies for 9 world automotive championships (Formula 1, Formula E…).
 
Alexandre holds a Master’s degree in management from the European Business School (EBS, Paris). He also graduated from Le Wagon, an international coding school (Paris).

Sophie is Aera’s Human Resource and Accounting Manager. She designs and overviews the HR strategy using best industry practice and ensures compliance with regulation. As head of HR, Sophie also implements the digitalization of Aera’s work force management with on-line tools to evaluate performance and processes. She conducts the company policy for recruitment and handles internal promotion and incentives packages. As head of accounting, Sophie is also in charge of daily invoices flow, interaction with banks and auditor, supervision of tax returns, and preparation of financial forecasts.
 
Prior to joining Aera, Sophie held several accountant positions in large French retail groups including Casino (208,000 employees, 11,500 stores worldwide, €30.5bn of annual net sales) and the “U” banner (65,000 employees, 1,568 stores). She was the HR and accounting manager at Food & Beverage franchise Columbus Café & Co (200 points of sale in France and abroad) where she supervised the accounting of 10+ companies, established the monthly reporting and the annual balance sheets.
 
Sophie is a graduate of the University of Angers and holds a Master’s degree in Management AES (Economic and Social Administration).
