Fabrice le Saché is Aera’s Co-Founder, Executive Chairman and member of Supervisory Committee. Fabrice established Aera commercial presence in 10+ African countries with a strong focus on francophone Sub Saharan Africa (DR-Congo, Côte d’ivoire, Senegal, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Burundi,..).

He led Aera’s growth since inception by doubling the turnover and the net profit every year. Fabrice has been instrumental in the development of Aera’s trading activities. He closed €500+ million carbon credits’ transactions in the last 5 years working with 80+ trading counterparties in Europe, Canada & Asia (EDF Trading, Shell Trading, Total Gas & Power, Eneco,…).

Fabrice also contributed to build Aera’s carbon portfolio, the largest in Africa to date, dealing with high profile asset owners such as Meridiam, Akuo Energy, CI-Energies, Green Yellow, Eren, Senelec, Somelec, Qair or Virunga Foundation.

Between March 2020 and February 2021, he negotiated the sale of 35% of Aera stake to a new shareholder - Arise IS, a Joint-Venture between Singapore agri-food giant OLAM ($30 bn turnover p.a.) and Lagos based pan-African infrastructure fund Africa Finance Corporation ($8 bn invested to date).

Fabrice le Saché is also serving several non-profit positions. He is Vice-Chair and spokesperson for the French Business & Employer Union (MEDEF) which represents 124,000 French corporates employing 10 million workers (www.medef.fr). He is also Board Member of MEDEF International (www.medefinternational.fr) and Chair of the SME & Entrepreneurship Committee of Business Europe, the European Business Unions Confederation (businesseurope.eu).

Fabrice holds a LL.M. in International Comparative Laws from the University of San Diego School of Law, a master degree in International Public Law from Paris-II Panthéon-Assas and a Diploma in International Relations from the Institute for Higher International Studies of Paris La Sorbonne University.

“Back in 2015, at the same time of the COP21 where the world’s leaders were signing the Paris agreement, we founded Aera Group in order to have a global impact on the fight against climate changes in Africa. I have faith in the power and reactivity of the private sector to reduce greenhouse gas emissions drastically within a very short term if the carbon price commensurate with the threats now hanging over the living world of which we are a part.”

Aurélie founded Aera Group in 2015. She is currently the CEO of the company. Rich in field experiences in renewable energy, waste treatment, energy efficiency and agriculture, she masters the main carbon standards and the key aspects of the purchase and sale of carbon credits. She advised more than 80 clients in Africa and actively contributed to the registration by the UNFCCC of the 1st ever CDM projects in 10 African countries. Now in charge of the Administration and General Affairs, she takes care of the day-to-day running of the company.
Aurélie need’s to find answer to climate change goes back years before Aera. After attending University of Rennes, specialized in Science, Technology, Engineering and Health, Aurélie get a engineer’s degree in Industrial Environmental Engineering from “UniLaSalle - EME”. In parallel, she participated to the development of one of the first wind farm project in the West of France. In 2019, she co-founded ‘Biogaz-IFF’ a company located in Britany that aims to develop, construct and operate a biogas plant using agricultural residues. The biogas produced is upgraded to biomethane and subsequently injected into the existing natural gas grid. In doing so, conventional natural gas users gain access to a renewable source of energy.

Alexandre Dunod is Chief Operating Officer of Aera Group since 2016. Alexandre leads Aera’s advisory business and development with a focus on renewable energy, fuel switch, energy efficieny and waste treatment methodologies in Africa. He has advised and participated in 50+ climate finance & emission reduction certification projects in 15 African countries and contributed to raising over 100 m€ climate fundings from development institutions like Green Climate Fund, SEFA, PSI, UNOPS.

His carbon finance expertise oversees the due-diligence of sustainable development projects in the context of existing climate change funding mecanisms; the elaboration and support of of budgets and funding requests, and coordination and follow up of the certification and appraisal processes until emission reductions allowances. Formerly, he held similar functions at ecosur afrique (2010-2015) and completed ecosur largest investments in Burundi, Côte d’Ivoire and DRC in the renewable biomass and clean cooking technologies.

Alexandre graduated from Ecole Centrale Paris (France) as an engineer and holds a M.Sc. Management of Technology from the National University of Singapore (Singapore). He is a CFA charter-holder (Chartered Financial Analyst Institute) and a volunteer mountain rescue & fire worker.

After 10 years of living and working in Africa, holding various management and administrative senior functions, I am joining Aera to continue to work on this continent and from now on with respect to ambitious projects, reconciling in a unique way, economic, financial, environmental and social objectives. This virtuous circle is an important source of personal motivation because it is part of this global dynamic aiming to achieve carbon neutrality. Aera is perfectly positioned to accompany these profound changes and I am delighted to contribute to them as part of the Aera’s team.

Haashim Goburdhun is Aera’s Chief Financial Officer. He manages the Accounting & Reporting, Treasury and Tax functions of the company. He is also responsible for preparing Aera’s Budgets and Forecasts and ensures adequate controls and policies are in place.

Haashim has held various senior finance positions in multinational companies in the Financial Services, Pharmaceutical and Mining industries. In his last role, he was the Head of Treasury & Shared Services for the African business of a large Mining company and also the Executive Director of the Mauritian subsidiary.

He is a Chartered Certified Accountant with more than 14 years of experience in the profession and is also a fellow member of the ACCA.

Haashim joined Aera in november 2021 as an external consultant.

Head, Sales & Marketing

Alexandre is in charge of Sales & Marketing. He is in direct contact with buyers to provide them the best market insights and offers them a solution to their credits carbon needs.

On the marketing side, he works along with project owners (35+ projects) and buyers to produce the communication content needed. He also keeps the reporting lines with buyers on project progress and help them keep track of project status regularly. He also provides ideas to better highlight projects’ key CSR contribution and portray impacts as accurately as possible.

Prior to joining Aera, Alexandre worked at the French Employer Union and at the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile on the marketing departments. He holds a Master degree in Management & Luxury from the European Business School (Paris).

Jokhanan Toe

Head, Certification & Deliveries

Jokhanan TOE joined Aera Group in 2020 as a Carbon analyst. He is involved in all stages of carbon project certification, from assessing the potential and eligibility of the project, to recording and coordinating verification. Speaking fluently English and French, he worked on projects in Burundi, Ghana, Mauritania, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In addition, Jokhanan also carries out greenhouse gas emissions assessments according to the principles of the GHG Protocol, Bilan Carbone, and ISO 14064. He supported the carbon footprint assessment of NKOK industrial Zone (Gabon).

Jokhanan holds a degree in industrial and environmental engineering from Unilassale Rennes, as well as a Master's degree in sustainable management and eco-innovation from Rennes School of Business

Gagan is a chartered accountant by training who joined Olam in 2008 before taking on the role of Country Head of Gabon in 2010. Since then, Gagan established Olam’s flagship infrastructure and logistics ventures in Gabon, before rolling out this new business model across West Africa under the banner of ARISE, an affiliate company. ARISE designs, finances, builds and operates industrial zones, roads, ports and other infrastructure in key African trade hubs, including Gabon, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo and Benin.
