Supervisory Board

Fabrice LE SACHE

Fabrice LE SACHE

Chairman

“I founded Aera Group to have the maximum leverage and impact on climate transition in Africa. Most of the environmental issues of our time, climate, biodiversity or water scarcity, have already severe impact on the continent. I believe that generating revenues for projects that protect the environment is the best way to reinforce their strength and to scale up action.”

Fabrice Le Saché founded Aera Group in 2015. He is currently executive chairman and member of the supervisory board. Since the creation of the company he headed sales & marketing with a strong business development focus. He transacted CO2 emissions certificates with +80 buyers mainly based in Europe (Shell Trading, Vitol, Swedish Energy Agency, EDF Trading, Eneco, Cargill, Bunge, Standard Bank,..). He structured spot/forward OTC deals for more than 20 M€ and turned Aera as the largest independent trader of African carbon credits. In 2020, Fabrice started the diversification of the company by enlarging trading activities to new environmental commodities (renewable energy, nature-based carbon assets and water certificates). He closed in 2020 the opening of Aera shareholding structure by selling a minority stake of Aera (35%) to ARISE, a JV between OLAM a USD 30 bn Singapore agri-food company and the Africa Finance Corporation.

Fabrice holds several non-profit positions. He is Vice-Chairman and spokesperson for the French Business Union (MEDEF) which gathers 173,000 corporates employing 10 million workers (www.medef.fr). He also serves as Board Member of MEDEF International (www.medefinternational.fr). He holds other non-executive positions as Chairman of the 3thd largest social housing company in Paris Region (www.erigere.fr) and Chairman of French business accelerator for exports (www.stratexio.fr).

Fabrice holds a LL.M. in international comparative laws from University of San Diego School of Law (USD), a master degree in international public law from Paris II Panthéon-Assas and a graduated in international relations from l’Institut des Hautes Etudes Internationales of La Sorbonne University.

"I joined Aera Group in April 2019. Based in Bamako, Mali, I work in ensuring that projects are in accordance with carbon certification labels. Through this role, I realized how the funding received at the end of the certification process makes it possible to strengthen the actions on the field over the long term, and are a source of structuring changes, in particular for a key sector such as energy."

Sebastian Mayr

Project Manager, Certification & Deliveries

"I wanted to stay in France and continue working with more 'additional' carbon credit projects as a carbon offset developer. Since there were significant investment barriers for renewable energies and other kind of low-carbon projects in Africa and Aera Group at the forefront of developing such first-of-its-kind carbon credit projects in many African countries, I considered Aera Group as a perfect matchmaker.”
