Senegal produces over 200,000 tons of plastic waste per year, and only less than 10,000 tons of waste is recycled each year. With a coastline of more than 530 kilometers, sadly, a significant amount of plastic waste is disposed along the coast and ends up in the ocean.
To address this growing environmental challenge, innovative solutions are being implemented to tackle plastic waste in Senegal, like Proplast Industries.

With over 21 years of experience, they are committed to transforming plastic waste into valuable resources through a circular economy model. Plastic Waste Collection
Through innovative programs like RECUPLAST, Proplast operates a network of 50+ points of collection championing the circular economy by ensuring plastic waste is transformed and reused efficiently. Their collection points, mobile caravans, and door-to-door waste pickup services have created 1,500 jobs empowering local communities, especially women, fostering a culture of recycling.
Recycling & Transformation
Their state-of-the-art recycling facilities process collected plastic into high-quality granules, which serve as raw materials for industries producing textiles, packaging, and plastic products—without compromising quality.
Supply of Recycled Materials
Proplast provides recycled plastic granules to partner industries, enabling them to manufacture eco-friendly products while reducing their environmental footprint.
Distribution of Recycled Products
Via their e-commerce platform recuplast.org and local networks, they distribute products made from recycled plastic, promoting reuse and raising awareness about sustainable consumption.
