Composting And Recycling Municipal Waste In Accra.
0tonnes of waste/day
Zoomlion, the largest waste collector in Ghana, developed the first large scale waste treatment plant in the country providing jobs, technology transfer and environmental benefits.
The plant composting plant was inaugurated in 2012 and is operational since that time. It processes 600 tonnes of municipal waste per day and include sorting, composting and recycling facilities. The organic fraction of the waste is reconverted into compost for agricultural activities. The overall waste management project reduce greenhouse gas emissions that would have occurred in the business as usual scenario of landfilling practices in the country.
