Zoomlion developed two composting plant, one in Accra area and one in the Kumasi region. The plant in Accra was inaugurated in 2012 and is operational since that time. It processes 600 tonnes of urban solid waste per day and include sorting, composting and recycling facilities. The organic fraction of the waste is reconverted into compost for agricultural activities. The overall waste management project reduce greenhouse gas emissions that would have occurred in the business as usual scenario of landfilling practices in the country. A second site is developed at Adagya in Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (Ashanti Region).
