One of the largest solar power plant in Mauritius

The solar power plant of Solitude feeds into the CEB's national electricity grid, replacing the country's energy mix (mainly coal/oil) with clean, renewable energy. Besides 175 people employed on the construction site, up to 15 jobs are created for the power plant operations and maintenance. This project is part of the "Mauritius Sustainable Island" (MID) program, adopted in 2011, which aims to reach 35% of renewable energy in the country by 2025. It also induces indirect employment by increasing the competitiveness of local industry from reducing the country’s dependency on fossil fuels.

The solar power plant of Solitude is composed of 59,376 photovoltaic solar modules. The expected production amounts to 29,300 MWh and will be fully fed into the CEB's national electricity grid, replacing the country's energy mix (mainly coal/oil) with clean, renewable energy. About 175 people work on the construction site. 10 to 15 jobs will be created for the power plant operations and maintenance. This project is part of the "Mauritius Sustainable Island" (MID) program, adopted in 2011, which aims to reach 35% of renewable energy in the country by 2025.
