The project is a 18 MW wind farm erected under a BOOT model in Plaine des Roches, Mauritius. The site is interconnected with the national grid. Quadran operates the wind farm for 20 to 25 years. Electricity is sold to the national utility, CEB. The project generates about 33,000 MWh of electricity, which is equivalent to the annual demand of 70,000 people. The renewable energy produced by the project avoids the equivalent combustion of 9,800 tons of fossil fuel per year. The project is also reducing Mauritius’ heavy reliance on fossil fuels (mainly coal and diesel).
