French renewable energy developer Quadran developed and financed the pioneer wind project in Mauritius island contributing to a strong technology transfer and to the energy mix diversification.
The project is a 18 MW wind farm erected under a BOOT model in Plaine des Roches, Mauritius. The site is interconnected with the national grid. Electricity is sold to the national utility, CEB. The renewable energy produced by the project avoids the equivalent combustion of 9,800 tons of fossil fuel per year and reduces Mauritius’ heavy reliance on fossil fuels (mainly coal and diesel).
