Karan Biofuel is a pioneer of biomass briquettes in Kenya, where it was incorporated in 2008. It was set up by the Karan League group, which has been headquartered in India for 10 years and has already provided over 15 turn-key briquetting plants over the world.
Karan Biofuel operates a biomass briquetting plant in Kisumu (Western Kenya) composed of 7 press machines and a biomass dryer. The biomass residues used include bagasse and saw mills dust. The transformed briquettes hold high-density and high-calorific value. Karan Biofuel supplies selected industrial facilities (oil refineries, sugar and tea factories). Briquettes are used for steam and heat production in replacement of fossil fuels. Karan Biofuel plant produces above 42,000 tons of briquettes per year.
