Support the largest hydro plant ever built in Côte d'Ivoire, a game changer for the country low carbon energy mix.
The Soubré Hydro Power Plant is a greenfield project located on the Sassandra river at about 5 km far from Soubré city in Côte d'Ivoire. This is a run-of-river hydropower plant with a capacity of 270 MW with an estimated average electricity generation of 1,170 GWh per year. To date, electricity in Côte d’Ivoire is mainly generated from fossil fuels (natural gas and fuel oil) which leads to considerable greenhouse gas emissions. The project activity will therefore substitute fossil-fuel intensive grid-electricity and cut down GHG emissions by an estimated annual reduction of 665,000 tCO2.
