Akuo Energy develops, finances, builds and operates renewable energy power plants all over the word (39 plants currently in operation). With over EUR 1.6 bn investments made or committed, Akuo Energy accounts 1,360 MW in development.
Malian Energy sector is suffering from a large deficit of installed capacity with a minimum shortage of 600 MW to fulfil basic needs and mining power requirements. Solar energy is representing less than 2% of installed power although solar irradiation is very favourable. Part of renewable energy (hydro) dropped substantially for the last 10 years due to the increase in oil generators, causing substantial increase of MWh cost.
The project relates to the set-up of the largest PV plant (50MWc) in Western Africa to date.
